Alleged Bondi Beach Gunmen Operated Solo and Did Not Instruction in the Philippines, Investigators State.

The two suspected gunmen responsible for the fatal attack at a Jewish celebration on Bondi Beach, which claimed 15 lives, are believed to have acted alone, as stated by national law enforcement.

Investigators also confirmed that Sajid Akram, 50, and his 24-year-old son Naveed Akram flew to the Philippines on 1 November. Their travel plans included arriving in the main city Manila before traveling onward on the day of arrival to Davao City. The pair returned to Sydney on 29 November.

Lack of Proof of Preparation During Trip

Police have stated the duo did not receive any type of attack-related training or "planning" during their time in the Philippines. Early inquiries from local authorities indicate they "rarely left" their accommodation.

The incident—declared Australia's worst firearm massacre since 1996—has been officially declared a act of terrorism.

"Our teams are currently reviewing the material," she stated, adding that early reviews suggest that "the alleged offenders are alleged to have operated independently."

National law enforcement Commissioner Krissy Barrett briefed media on Tuesday that security camera video tracking the accused attackers' activities in the Philippines had been provided to domestic investigators.

"Our investigation shows little to no indication to suggest these alleged offenders were affiliated with a broader terrorist cell, or were directed by overseas entities to execute an act of violence," the police chief stated.

However, the men were likewise not necessarily in the Philippines as tourists, the official noted. She underscored that, as the investigation is still active, additional details could come to light.

Earlier, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said it seems both alleged attackers were "motivated by the so-called Islamic State" ideology.

During the incident, Sajid Akram was fatally shot by police. He and his son Naveed—equipped with firearms—are accused of having targeted participants at the Jewish festival event.

Naveed Akram, who was wounded after the attack, has been formally accused of 59 offences. These include 15 charges of murder and one count of carrying out a terrorist act. He is scheduled to face court in April.

In the wake following the shooting, border authorities in the Philippines indicated that the older suspect had arrived in the country using an foreign passport, while his son used an Australian passport.

The duo had listed the metropolis of Davao as their final destination. Their scheduled journey back to Australia was for Sydney.
