Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates includes live text of the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available on select stations covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six of the NFL season and following last week's discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their unbeaten records.
Striking during those contests was the amount of penalties each committed. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this Sunday.
However it proved good to see that Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to have the shortfall before lead three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, securing the game 21-17.
The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year in CB Pat Surtain II. They are number one in red zone defence, while the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, yet Denver prevailed in that contest.
They had the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always sending more than four defenders instead they might position two LBs in the 'A' gap before drop them out and send a nickel from the outside.
Early on in the campaign, it was noted during a show that the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season strongly and excelled in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's dark horses?
Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up big and new running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (402) and tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).
I love that head coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
That shows how the Broncos represent a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and keeps you in favourable down and distances.
It's also helped quarterback the young passer, who entered into the league as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to pass anywhere, however they lack the mobility as Nix. He has incredible passing ability, a unique trait, plus he's so athletic.
His assets are his mobility, being able to pass on the run, and using varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can throw that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great composure in the pocket and is not bothered by extra rushers. He aims to avoid being tackled whenever possible and can pass under pressure. He has a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.
If you consistently run the ball it consumes the clock and makes the defence to stay on the field extended periods, and when you've got a mobile QB the defense must defend the field vertically and horizontally. This proves exhausting.
The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and it seems the coach appreciates that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for him to have a rookie QB who's similar to play-dough. The coach can really build something up the way he wants to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
Payton owns a championship and now passed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are having offensively is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him into who he is.
There's no better a better guy guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and build confidence.
I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.
Currently, I don't think the Broncos are elite. They're working better than most, that's a solid position to be in their division. The key is is maintain this trajectory.
They excel at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and that's exactly what they must do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win any game.
Ever since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, this is kind of shocking considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the division.
It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they face since Denver {beat|def
