The most recent action-packed title that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing chaos and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving engaging, socially charged tales. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two creators whose projects have embodied all of those qualities.
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' structure by introducing a different backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX family always encourages me with their constant confidence and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone program. Every instalment is a variation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from year to year, while always delving into the nature of humanity through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and introduce our mutual bold, daring style to the television.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
