Los Angeles Faces Record-Breaking Heat Just Days Following Major Winter Weather.

In the wake of torrential rains that led to inundation across sections of the city, LA is now grappling with unseasonably high weather for late February.

Record-Shattering Readings

During the day Friday, the mercury climbed to 91°F (33°C) in central LA, as reported by meteorologists. This easily surpasses the previous daily record for February 27th, which was 31 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) and was established in the previous year.

"Exceptionally warm weather" were labeled on official charts for the region.

Public Health Warnings

Forecasters stated that Friday's weather posed an "higher threat for heat illness" for people sensitive to heat. Their guidance included:

• Drinking plenty of fluids.
• Limiting outdoor activities during the peak heat of the day.
• Ensuring you do not leave anyone unattended in a car.

An Extreme Weather Swing

This sharp rise in temperature arrives just after a powerful winter storm that pummeled the area last week. That system brought thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy snow to higher elevations, triggering evacuation orders for millions residents.

Temperatures Easing

Forecasters predict some relief is coming. The heat were predicted to drop to around 61°F (16°C) in the city by Friday night.

Other locales that reached the 90-degree mark featured Burbank, Woodland Hills, and Long Beach. Elsewhere, Santa Maria, Oxnard, Camarillo, and Westwood were expected to reach the upper eighties.

Over Saturday and Sunday, downtown LA can see temperatures in the eighties, with mid-70s temperatures on tap for the week ahead.
