Pep Guardiola Voices Remorse Over Broadcast Crew Incident Following Loss to Magpies

The City boss confessed feeling "shame" after a confrontation with a camera operator in the wake of Manchester City's loss away to the Magpies this past weekend.

At full time, an emotional Guardiola stepped onto the field and had heated discussions with match official Sam Barrott and Magpies midfielder Bruno Guimarães, and also touched the headphones of the camera operator.

"I said sorry," the manager remarked. "I feel embarrassed, ashamed, when I see it. I don’t like it. I apologised after one second to the operator. That's just me. With a thousand matches under my belt I'm far from perfect, I make huge mistakes."

Regarding his confrontation with the Newcastle player, Guardiola said: "I've known him for many years and post-match, home or away, we converse. We often meet and we get along well. I enjoy it. I'm passionate, I love to talk and move my hands."

Guardiola would not be concerned should a rival coach addressed his squad immediately after a game. "Not if you talk with respect like I always have done, it’s not a problem," he noted, before referencing Barrott. "He was part of it throughout the match, constantly. Goodness, he was involved."

Debatable Calls

City were unhappy that Barrott or the VAR denied a spot-kick for a Fabian Schär challenge against Foden, and doubted if Guimarães was offside on Barnes' goal Newcastle’s 70th-minute winner. Subsequent images indicate the Brazilian was onside.

Upcoming Milestone

He will manage of his 100th Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen this week. "That's impressive, it means that every season annually," he said.

City have 10 points from four matches in the group, while Leverkusen have five.
