The Red Bull team has revealed significant changes for the 2026 F1 campaign, promoting French driver Isack Hadjar to its senior team and handing British teenager Arvid Lindblad his debut Formula 1 seat.
Lindblad, who comes from a mixed Swedish-Indian background, will be the partner of New Zealander Liam Lawson at the sister squad VCARB.
These changes means Japan's Yuki Tsunoda losing his seat post a half-decade in F1.
Arvid Lindblad participated in first practice for the British and Mexico City Grands Prix this year.
Lindblad has been marked out as a potential future star by Red Bull since he was 12 years old.
Talking about the team's junior academy, a senior Red Bull figure previously said that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", praising his "natural quickness".
Red Bull has been working for some time to ready Lindblad for his likely Grand Prix bow in 2026, featuring appearances in F1 practice sessions at Silverstone and Mexico City.
The rookie said it was a "proud moment", adding: "Next season represents a huge step, and I know there's much to understand, but I'm prepared to work closely with the team and step up. I am incredibly excited to get started."
He has won two races in F2 this year and is P6 in the championship heading into the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
The French driver celebrates his first podium in F1, secured at the Zandvoort race in August.
The Frenchman's debut season began in difficult fashion when he crashed during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. But, since then, he has emerged as one of the most impressive rookies of the year.
His performances included an outstanding top-three result at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he lies in tenth place in the championship.
The team principal commented: "Isack has shown impressive growth and proved to be a quick learner. Crucially, he has the raw speed that is the number one requirement in this sport. We believe he can thrive alongside Max."
Hadjar described it "an incredible opportunity" and said he felt "prepared".
For the seat at Racing Bulls, Red Bull have chosen Lawson over Tsunoda.
The New Zealander began the season with the senior squad but was demoted early in the year. He has settled back in at Racing Bulls with some strong performances, convincing Red Bull he merits more time.
The Japanese driver, in contrast, has been ejected after a difficult season. His highest finish is a P6, and he has scored a minor percentage of the team's points total.
The driver market moves mean that there is also no place on the Red Bull programme for Ireland's Alex Dunne, who will remain in F2 next season.
