The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The effort hopes to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Possibility for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a trio of producers and composers. The track showcases a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The context in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing the human dimension of the story.”

The song is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
