Three Athletes In Contention for Young Athlete of the Year Award

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the 2025 Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

These three athletes have been recognised for their remarkable achievements over the past 12 months.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses win Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a record-breaking innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The three contenders were announced live on a popular morning radio program.

This year's winner will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on December 18th.

The ceremony will be aired from seven in the evening GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Just three months after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.

These match-saving moments led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Afterwards, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the top young European talent.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"Being on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is incredible," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

The Darts Prodigy

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

The year started for Littler in incredible form as - at just 17 years old - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

And he wasn't finished there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, smashing the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and surged to prominence with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin came in second place in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm deeply humbled to be named a finalist for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it encourages more young females to get into cricket."
